I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend!  It was very nice outside and I'm sure you had a chance to get outside and have some fun in nature.  This week we are hopefully starting to go into the computer lab.  I've been waiting for several weeks to receive logins and passwords for the new students so we can all go in and start learning about computer and tech stuff.

Below is a link to a folder of class photos I'm taking.

Subjects

Math:  We continue learning about patterns with a focus on graphs including bar and line graphs.   I continue to do math word problems with the class daily to help with understanding concepts and applying what they know.   "Math is the science of patterns."
Reading:   Students continue with a reading program called  Reading A to Z.
They read daily at their "just right" reading levels while I work on them with vocabulary and reading fluency.  Several students receive reading support outside the classroom for an hour 3 days a week.  I've starting different spelling groups and teaching students spelling and word patterns throughout the year.
Writing:   My focus continues to be on sentences--what they are, how to identify them, and how to write them correctly.  We've covered nouns and will begin to look at verbs this week.  We'll also look at using descriptive words in sentences.
Tech: We'll use the iPads this week to do some research and also use the built-camera for some outdoor photo shots.!
Science: We continue studying trees including different types of local trees and parts of the trees.
Art:   We are exploring many types of patterns in art.  This week we will be doing leaf prints.
PE:    In PE we are focusing basic coordination and movement skills for the first few weeks. We continue with folk dance and this week students will learn the Virginia Reel, plus I'll show them how to dance to Thriller.
French:   In French students are learning basic greetings and simple phrases.
