March 11, 2019

This is the last week before spring break.  I'll be trying to wrap up some projects this week so we can start fresh with new activities and topics in April.  Thanks for coming to student/parent/teacher interviews.  It's always nice to chat about your child's progress.

Subjects

Math:  This week we try to finish division learning a couple of strategies to divide one and two digit numbers.
Reading:   We continue reading "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH." Students are enjoying the book and are answering comprehension questions as they read.  We are also beginning to do a lot of drama activities including drama games and some readers' theatre.  We start reading scripts soon so that we can begin the process of choosing a play for the end of the year production.
Writing:   Students finished doing a research project on an unusual mammal and really enjoyed learning about unusual facts about an animal they probably hadn't heard of before like a tenrec and a sand cat.
Tech: I will be teaching students how to use Google slides.
Science: We will finish with taxonomy (animal classification) this week.
Art:   We continue investigating the use of colour.
PE:    In PE we will continue practicing basketball skills and continue with fitness training once a week. Students are working at stations for basketball skills.
French:   Students learned about ma famille, names for their family members .
