Grade 4/5 News

Welcome to the new year. I hope everyone had a lovely holiday time with your family and had lots of fun together.  We've got lots of events and projects planned for the new school year including lego robotics and a trip to GISS in late January for a creative project activity with other classes from the district.  If you have any questions about happenings at school or suggestions for activities please let me know. 


Subjects

Math:  We continue practicing multiplication facts and learning some strategies for multiplying numbers.  

Reading:    Our class reading group continues reading Charlotte's Web. We're halfway through it now and students are really enjoying it.  

Writing:   Our focus for the next few weeks will be writing paragraphs starting with explanatory writing such as giving directions and explanations about how to do something.  
Tech: The class will be doing more coding this week and starting a lego robotics projects with a small group.  

Science: We will be investigating sound for the next few weeks.    

Art:   This week we'll be having fun doing some pixel art and also another animal drawing.   

PE:    In PE we will be starting to do some basketball skills and continue with fitness training once a week.     We will also do some square dancing.  

French:   We continue with simple phrases, directions, numbers, and colours.
