December 10, 2018

This week Mr. MacQueen and I are taking our classes to Victoria to visit the museum and then go skating at Panorama Leisure Center.  Students need to be at Fulford Ferry at about 7:20 and they can be picked up at Fulford School at 3:30.  Students will need to bring enough food and drink for the day and a helmet for skating.  It should be a lot of fun.

Our class is practicing for the Christmas concert on December 18th.  We have created a play called, "Christmas in Hawaii."  We hope you will enjoy it.

Subjects

Math:  This week we will be finishing off subtraction and beginning to look at multiplication.  We will practice basic multiplication facts and learn different strategies for multiplying.
"Math is the science of patterns."
Reading:    Our class reading group is reading Charlotte's Web. It is a great story with lots of great characters, humour, and pathos.
Writing:   Students completed a Christmas story last week that I took to the Driftwood for their annual Christmas story contest.  Let's hope some of the students are winners.
Tech: Students will be learning to use some Google apps for the next two weeks.
Science: We had a great time using the microscopes and finish up with them this week.
Art:   We will be doing some Christmas art for the next two weeks.
PE:    In PE we are doing some fitness activities and learning volleyball skills.   We continue with folk dance learning the Virginia Reel and a hula dance called the Hukilau.
French:   I continue introducing some simple phrases: greetings and days of the week.
