Everyone seemed to  have a great time on Halloween.  Costumes were great!  This Thursday we will be going to GISS for their Remembrance Day Ceremony and afterwards we will be going to Rainbow Pool for a swim. 
 





Subjects

Math:  We continue with number theory which looks at place value, comparing numbers, integers, and rounding numbers.   "Math is the science of patterns."
Reading:   We continue with Reading A to Z.  Our class reading groups is reading short stories from a collection in a book.  Students read, read out loud, and also answer comprehension questions.  We continue to do word sorts twice a week.  
Writing:   After completing a Halloween story last week, we will now be investigating how to make interesting sentences by using descriptive words.  
Tech: Students are using iStopmotion to create stopmotion movies on their iPads.  It is very creative and everyone is learning how to use the app in different ways.  
Social Studies:  In mapping this week we will be looking at Saltspring Island--home and where the students live.
Art:  We continue to focus on patterns in art along with some animal drawing. 
PE:    In PE we will be doing some outdoor/indoor games and fitness activities.  We continue with folk dance learning the Virginia Reel and a hula dance called the Hukilau.  
French:   I continue introducing some simple phrases: greetings and days of the week.
