What a great camping trip last week!  Everyone had a wonderful time camping and going through the caves.  We'll have lots of great memories of this event together.   Thanks to the wonderful parents and students who made the trip so memorable. Here's a link to pictures of the class.

On Monday we are going to Burgoyne Bay and will be there for the day completing nature stations with SS Conservancy. Students should bring a large lunch and dress for wet weather.




Subjects

Math:  We will continue to look at patterns with students drawing patterns, converting the numbers to a T-table and then graphing the results.  Students will also begin learning about plotting coordinates.
   "Math is the science of patterns."
Reading:   We continue with Reading A to Z.  Students read aloud to me regularly so I can check for  fluency and expression.  This week we start a spelling program using word sorts to help students learn word patterns to help them with their spelling. 
Writing:   Our focus continues to be about sentences: capitals, punctuation and meaning.  
Social Studies:  Our remains mapping for a few weeks with a major focus on Canada. Students will learn how to draw a compass rose.
Art:  We continue investigating patterns in art.  
PE:    In PE we will be doing some outdoor/indoor games and fitness activities.  We continue dance with 2 folk dances and we will practice them again on Monday. 


French:   This week we start French and I begin with some simple phrases: greetings and days of the week.
