On Tuesday Quentin will be in our class to do some first nations art.  At 11:00 on Tuesday and Wednesday we will be doing some origami with Susan MacLeod who focuses on the math of origami.  Should be fun!  Thursday is Pink Shirt day which is a day focused on anti-bullying.

Subjects

Math:   I'm introducing 2-digit multiplication this week.   Students continue to practice math fact sheets for homework.
"Math is the science of patterns."
Reading:    We continue "word sorts"  twice a week.  This week we will finish the novels "My Side of the Mountain" and "Misty of Chincoteague" with the 2 reading groups.  Next week each student will choose a project to work on related to the novel they have read.   On Thursdays we focus on Reader's Theatre and drama activities.
Writing:   Students have completed a Google Slide presentation on an unusual animal.  It was interesting and everyone learned something new.  They will share the slides with you online.
Science:  Students continue to work with lego robotics.  I want to make sure that all students are able to code and program with lego robotics so that we can do more complex coding and building with lego mindstorms after spring break.
Social Studies: We have reached Barkerville in our travels through the Cariboo.  Students are reading about Barkerville and will soon be choosing a business to work at in Barkerville.  We will be also be doing several activities for students to write about and make.
Art:  Our theme is colour --learning about the colour wheel and mixing colours in different mediums.
PE:    Most of our focus is on basketball in PE.    In dance, we continue with jiving.
French:   In French we will be learning about months, seasons, the weather, as well as beginning to have some short dialogues and conversations.
