April 3,  2017

Welcome back from the spring break.  I hope everyone had a great time over the past two weeks and you were able to do some fun things with the family.  It's already April--the year is going by so fast!  There are so many upcoming events and activities ahead that time will really seem to fly by.  This week the girls have a basketball game on Wednesday to make up for one that was missed because of snow.  Good luck girls and have fun!

Subjects

Math:   We continue studying geometry for about two more weeks.  We are looking at aspects of polygons and then we'll study triangles, circles, and solids.
"Math is the science of patterns."
Reading:   This week we will start doing a word sorting activity that is focused on spelling and patterns with words.  We'll continue doing this regularly for the rest of the year.
NIMH projects will be finished in a couple of days and we'll display the projects in the room across from the library..
Writing:    I hope you enjoyed the Choose Your Adventure website that the class created.  It was lots of fun to do and the stories are quite good.   We continue to focus on paragraphs and will be looking at different themes to write on.
Science: We will be test piloting some science kits the School District is purchasing and have ordered.  We should start in a couple of weeks.
Tech:  We'll start a unit on Lego Robotics this week and students will be learning how to create a website that will showcase their learning and interests.
Art:  We will be focusing on design and drawing daffodils.
PE:  Students continue to do weekly fitness stations.  We will practice a couple of more sessions with square dancing and then move on to dances from the 50s and 60s.
French:   Our next theme will be about parts of the body.

You are welcome to phone me or email me if you have  any questions about what is happening in class.  250-537-4962  or jlightfoot@sd64.bc.ca
