Now that everyone has their role in Peter Pan we are really focusing on practicing the lines for the play.  I've encouraged students with major parts to practice at home as they have a lot of lines to learn.  On Thursday the grade 5s visit SIMS for the day which will be a lot of fun as they mix with grade 5s from Fulford and Saltspring Elementary.

Subjects

Math:   We continue practicing division.  Expect some daily math practice to be coming home.
"Math is the science of patterns."
Reading:   Peter Pan is coming along well.  I have double cast the main parts and everyone loves the play.
Writing:  We are continuing with the fictional story the students are creating.  I hope to have the first draft finished this week.
Tech:   We continue with code online and with paired students working with Gandalf our Sphero buddy.
Science:  We've done a couple of experiments with Work and energy: one using pendulums and another looking at gravity and Newton's discovery of inertia.
Art:  We have been doing some interesting line designs this past week.  Some students have done the designs on wood using wool.
PE:  Students are practicing their jiving and soon we'll be starting track and field activities for our District track meet on May 31.
French:  Students continue learning simple French words and greetings. They will be learning days of the week, months, and the weather.
