May 16, 2016

Pizza orders are due tomorrow and pizza day is on Thursday.   On May 24th  the Pender Island grade 4/5 class is coming to visit us for about 4 hours.  The class is planning a lot of fun activities for them as they did for us when we were there.  I would like to make all the kids a spaghetti lunch and hope to find 2 or 3 volunteers to help prepare it.  If you are interested let me know and I'll let you know the arrangements for the lunch.

Subjects

Math:   We continue practicing division, probably for the last week.  Expect daily math practice to be coming home.
"Math is the science of patterns."
Reading:   This week we will be blocking for the play which means students will be reading the play and standing in the positions they would be on stage.   Students should have their lines memorized by next week so we can practice without scripts.  On Wed, May 25 at 11:00 the class will be talking about the designs for the sets.  If you are interested in helping with this let me know.  We will be painting the sets on May 31 after school.
Writing:  We are nearly completed the fictional story and will print the final copy this week.
Tech:   This will be the last week of coding for the class.
Science:  Our next experiment will be how to use less energy to make an object move.
Art:  We will be designing posters for Peter Pan this week and then distributing them in the community.
PE:  Jiving is fun and we're also practicing events for Track and Field.
French:  Students continue learning simple French words and greetings. They will be learning days of the week, months, and the weather.
