Students are being fitted for helmets on Wednesday thanks to Margaritta Nordine.  It's a great chance to get your child a helmet for $10!  Girls play basketball at Fernwood on Tuesday at lunch and it gives them their first chance to have fun playing against another team.  Thanks to Marcia and Sarah for driving.

Subjects

Math:   This week we continue practicing 1 and 2 digit multiplication and different strategies for solving questions like 23 X 58.    Students are practicing times tables daily and are assigned a page of practice to complete each night.
"Math is the science of patterns."
Reading:    We continue to read Greek mythology and do Reader's Theatre one day a week.  Each student is practicing reading aloud and will record on their iPad to upload on their website.  This will probably take a couple of weeks.
Writing:  Daily journal writing continues.  Students have begun to brain storm ideas for writing a memoir.  Memoirs are personal memories that arouse emotion and vivid detail.
Tech:   We continue with...Website, website, website!!!
Social Studies:   Students will be finishing their journal this week.  Next, they will be starting two projects: a poster for their new "job" and building a cardboard model of their home or business.
Art:  Students have used water colours to paint a scene called, "Winter Birch."  Now they will go over the details with a fine black marker.  We'll hang them in the hall--come see them if you can.
PE:  Students continue with folk dance (square dance) and basketball skills.
French:  Students continue learning simple French words and greetings. They will be learning days of the week, months, and the weather.
Recorders:  We continue with recorders and students are practicing the B, A, G and C notes.
