Feb. 9, 2016

This week the boys have a basketball game at Fulford against Phoenix.  It should be fun and lots of students will come to watch the game.  Quentin Harris is back to do some more carving with us.  This should be the last day and we'll be finished the project.  We have a performance from Axis Theatre on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 and it should be very entertaining.

Subjects

Math:   This week we are practicing 1 and 2 digit multiplication and I'll be showing the students some different strategies to learn questions like 23 X 58.    Students are practicing times tables daily and are assigned a page of practice to complete each night.
"Math is the science of patterns."
Reading:    We continue to read Greek mythology as do Reader's Theatre one day a week. I plan to have each student practice reading aloud and recording it on their iPad to upload on their website.  This will probably take a couple of weeks.
Writing:  Daily journal writing continues and students will be learning to write a memoir.
Tech:   We continue with...Website, website, website!!!
Social Studies:   Students have completed drawing their first homestead.  This week they will be reading about how pioneers settled their land in their first few years.
Art:  Students will be using water colours to paint a scene called, "Winter Birch."
PE:  Students continue with folk dance and basketball skills.
French:  Students continue learning simple French words and greetings. They will be learning days of the week, months, and the weather.
