Students are working on their websites, but I am finding that it is taking longer than I expected to create a thorough website with the details, photos, and reflections that I would like the students to present.  The website launch might be a few weeks away and I will let you know when to view the sites and how to make comments on your child's work.

Subjects

Math:   We continue with multiplication and will start one digit multiplication and multiplication with 10s, 100s, 1000s.  Students are practicing times tables daily and are assigned a page of practice to complete each night.
"Math is the science of patterns."
Reading:    This week we'll be reading some Greek/Roman mythology as well as beginning to do Reader's Theatre one day a week. I plan to have each student practice reading aloud and recording it on their iPad to upload on their website.  This will probably take a couple of weeks.
Writing:  Daily journal writing continues and students will be writing about teaching something to someone.
Tech:   We continue with...Website, website, website!!!
Social Studies:   Students are settling their 160 acres of land and have described in their journal how their first home was built.  They will be drawing a picture of their first house and then making a list of supplies and furnishings they would need for their home.  I have 2 old Sears catalogs at school       (one is 1909, the other is 1896) that they can use to find costs.  Students can also look up 1914 Sears  or Eaton's catalog online.
Science: We will continue science activities at a later date.
Art:  Students will be using water colours to paint a scene called, "Winter Birch."
PE:  Students continue with folk dance and basketball skills.
French:  Students continue learning simple French words and greetings. They will be learning days of the week, months, and the weather.
Recorders:  We continue with recorders and students are practicing the B, A, G notes.  I introduced the C note last week and gave the students more practice material.
