April 19,  2015

This week will be a busy and fun one!  On Wednesday we are walking to Fulford Creek to release our salmon and doing water testing with Cate McEwan.  If you would like to join us we are leaving the school at 9:00.  On Thursday we are glazing pottery and the Spring Showcase is in the afternoon.  A reminder that I would like the forms for the April 30th sleepover in ASAP so that I can see what activities we will be doing with the students.  I'll send you a detailed itinerary of the sleepover soon.  Our class has decided on a play we will be performing for the school.  It's Treasure Island and is tentatively scheduled for performances on June 10 and June 11.  We are practicing reading the play and students will be choosing parts this week.

Subjects

Math:   We are nearly finished measurement and will be starting geometry later this week.

Social Studies:    We continue with our journey in the 1858 Gold Rush.  Students have their own characters and are keeping journals and learning about different aspects of the history of the gold rush.  We are on our way to Barkerville where students will be choosing a business or trade.
Art: Our theme for the next few weeks will be using different media to depict spring flowers.  Should be colourful!  We've done daffodils and tulips--lilacs are next.
