Oct. 14
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  This is a reminder that students should have their Planner signed daily even if there are no notes or homework.  I want to use the Planner as a communication device plus I want the students to develop the habit of using a Planner to help them organize events and activities.  On Thursday, November 23 the class is inviting parents to come to school to meet me and for the students to show parents class routines and activities we do at school.  I will send a note home about it later this week.

Subjects

Math:  We’ve started to look at place value and numeracy.  Students will learn about the magic of “0” and the importance of place in the base ten system.
Reading:  Students continue with Reading A to Z.  They are practicing reading out loud with the stories with the emphasis on expression and fluency.
Writing: Students continue practice sentence writing and looking at grammar.  They have started a Halloween story.
Keyboarding: Keyboarding practice continues daily.   I encourage students to practice keyboarding at home at the online site we use at school.  www.freetypinggame.net
Science:  We will finish investigating trees this week and then start a mapping unit.
Art: We are looking at patterns and lines for the next couple of weeks.  Then we’ll start doing some Halloween art to decorate the classroom.
PE:  Students will be divided into small groups this week to create a game.  We’ll talk about rules, equipment, and ways to engage all the class in the game.
