Oct. 27
Thanks to all the parents who came to the class meeting on Thursday.  It was great to meet you and I hope the students were able to show you the routines of the class and topics we are working on so far this year.  This week is the prep to Halloween and we’ll be decorating the class to make it spooky.  We will be having a small party on Thursday afternoon and you can send a goodie to school if you wish for the students to share.  Please remember that students should be reading at least 20 minutes daily at home.

Subjects

Math:  We are now beginning a unit on addition and subtraction.  We will be reviewing and practicing strategies and doing some drill practice for both.
Reading:  This week we will be doing some Halloween reading activities.
Writing: Students continue practice sentence writing and looking at grammar.  Students will finish the Halloween story this week.
Keyboarding: Keyboarding practice continues daily.   I encourage students to practice keyboarding at home at the online site we use at school.  www.freetypinggame.net
Social Studies: We are studying maps for the next few weeks.  We’ve looked at the continents and oceans and will be spending a great deal of time focusing on Canada.
Art: We will be spending most of our time decorating the classroom for Halloween.
PE:  Students are showing their group creative games.  I’ll also be teaching the students how to dance to Thriller.
