This Week

On Thursday this week we have a class “camp-in” at the school.  We have a lot of fun activities planned including activities led by parents, a pizza supper, games, and a movie.  Boys/girls will be “camping” in either the gym or the library.  Pick-up will be early Friday morning.   I’ll send a reminder home on Wednesday.

Subjects

Math: Students are learning and practicing division for the week.
Reading:  This week we’ll finish reading Treasure Island  and then begin to read Alice in Wonderland.   On Wednesdays we continue working with poetry--reading and writing.
Writing:  Students are working on writing a story with a story lead-in given to them.
Keyboarding: Keyboarding practice continues daily.   I encourage students to practice keyboarding at home at the online site we use at school.  www.freetypinggame.net
Social Studies:  Students are working on two projects at school: a written one that will involve a presentation and a model of a homestead or business.
Art: Much of our art projects have to do with activities concerning the homesteads such as drawing their homestead and building a model of their home.
PE:  We continue with dance on Tuesdays.  I taught them a disco routine and next I’ll show them how to do the Thriller dance.  Students received their Premier Sports Award for basketball.  We are doing floor hockey now.
French:  In the next few weeks students will be learning about the family--names and phrases.    I also plan on teaching them a couple of songs.
