This Week
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend and that you were able to
get outside and enjoy the lovely weather.
Our student teacher, Mr. Dustin Bean, starts this week. We know he’ll have a great time in the class
and that the students will be welcoming and helpful. Dustin will be here until December 12.
Math: Students are completing a pattern project that combines using a pattern, t-chart and a graph. I’ll send the project home when it’s completed. Next we’ll be starting number theory.
Reading:. Students continue to read short stories and readers’ theatre, and we’ll be focusing on reading fluency and reading out loud. Once a week I look to do a news story with the class.
Writing: Our focus continues to be on developing a strong understanding of sentences and grammar. Students will be have daily writing times in their journal. I hope to send our Malawi pen pal letters this week.
Keyboarding: Daily keyboarding continues. I encourage students to practice at home on the website we use at school: http://www.freetypinggame.net/
Art: Hallowe’en’s approaching and we’ll be focusing on Hallowe’en art and decorating the classroom.
PE: Volleyball starts this week in PE classes. Also, grade 4s and 5s who are interested in joining the school team will begin practicing. Every Tuesday is dance day: students are learning to jive.
