This Week
The hike to Drummond Park last Thursday was a lot of fun. We immersed ourselves in the beautiful fog in
Fulford Harbour and enjoyed ourselves beach combing and gathering litter on the
way back. This is Halloween week and we’ll
be engaged in several Halloween activities including decorating the classroom,
reading and writing Halloween stories and planning activities for Halloween
afternoon. I’ve told students that if
they wish to bring a snack or goodie to share on Thursday afternoon that would
be great. Mr. Bean starts teaching a few
lessons this week including PE and Art.
Math: We continue to learn number theory and numeracy which includes topics such as place value, expanded numbers and rounding.
Reading: This week we are reading some Halloween stories and poems.
Writing: Students are developing a good understanding of paragraphs which will be a focus for several weeks. Students will complete writing a Hallowe’en story.
Keyboarding: Daily keyboarding continues. I encourage students to practice at home on the website we use at school: http://www.freetypinggame.net/
Art: Hallowe’en’s approaching and we’ll be focusing on Hallowe’en art and decorating the classroom.
PE: Volleyball continues this week in PE classes. Every Tuesday is dance day: students continue learning to jive. We will decide on how to present the jiving to parents in the upcoming weeks.
