Grade 4/5 News

This Week
        We have another busy week with lots of activities planned.  On Monday both boys’ and girls’ basketball teams play--boys at SSE, girls at Fernwood.  On Tuesday boys play at Fernwood; on Wednesday girls play at SSE.  Also, on Wednesday our class will be going to a performance at Artspring.  The whole class will stay in Ganges for the rest of the day.  The girls will play basketball at SSE, we’ll have lunch there, then we’ll go to Mouat’s Park to play frisbee golf.  After that we’ll be swimming from 2:00 til 3:00.  Students will need to bring lunch and their swim stuff for that day and will need to be picked up at the pool at 3:00.

Subjects
Math: We’ll be finished division this week and will start geometry next.
Reading:  Reading Workshops continue this week.  My focus will be working on vocabulary and word knowledge and continued practice of oral reading.  
Writing:  Students are writing autobiographies and entering them on our class wiki site.  If you wish to view it please go to  "lightfootgrade5.wikispaces.com"
Keyboarding: Keyboarding practice continues daily.   I encourage students to practice keyboarding at home at the online site we use at school.  www.freetypinggame.net  
Art: We are looking at the colour wheel and mixing colours.
PE:   We continue to practice basketball.  Tuesdays is dance day and students are currently learning the Hora, the Hukilau, the Chicken dance, and the Virginia Reel.
French:  We continue to practice greetings and phrases.  We are viewing a series called Telefrancais and the students really seem to enjoy it.
