Grade 4/5 News

This Week
        This is the last week before spring break and we’re trying to complete some activities at school including the class wiki site.  On Tuesday afternoon students will be doing some first aid activities with Gretchen and special guests.  Thursday is “Spaghetti Day”: students will create a tool to eat spaghetti.  I’ll take lots of pictures and post them on the Blog--it should be great fun!

Subjects
Math: We are starting measurement this week beginning with mm, cm, m, and kms..
Reading:  Reading Workshops continue this week.  We’ll wrap up the brochures and focus on oral reading and fluency.
Writing:  Students will finish their wiki page.   If you wish to view it please go to  lightfootgrade5.wikispaces.com.
Keyboarding: Keyboarding practice continues daily.   I encourage students to practice keyboarding at home at the online site we use at school.  www.freetypinggame.net  
Art: We are looking at the colour wheel and mixing colours.
PE:   We continue to practice basketball.  Tuesdays is dance day and students are currently learning the Hora, the Hukilau, the Chicken dance, and the Virginia Reel.
French:  We continue to practice greetings and phrases.  We are viewing a series called Telefrancais and the students really seem to enjoy it.
