This Week
We have another great week ahead.  Gallery in the Schools is coming on Tuesday and we’ll be doing a great art activity with them.  We’ve chosen the dances for our year-end production called, So You Think You Can Dance, Fulford.  I’ve written a script for the show and we’ll be starting to practice the dances soon.  It should be lots of fun with great dancing, entertainment and humour. Next week is our last swim week.

Math: In geometry we’re doing some really creative work with octagons and circles, then we’ll be investigating solids.
Reading: This week we started a Literature Circle unit on the theme of adventure. Students were really excited about choosing their books and have jumped into this reading experience.
Writing:  We are continuing with students writing a creative story.
Computer: Students are researching information about a topic about the digestion system.  They are going to use the information to produce a powerpoint about their topic.  When it is finished they will be able to display it as a slide show on a computer.  At the end of the year when we have student-led conferences, students will be able to show you their work on the computer.
Science: The starch test was a great success and students had a great time testing foods for starch.  They found it amazing that a drop of iodine would turn food with starch black.  It’s a fun experiment you could try at home!
Art: We started with drawing a self-portrait last week and this week we’ll be studying how to draw the human face starting with the eyes.
PE: Wednesday—jogging and fitness; Tuesday--dance; Monday and Thursday are game day.  This week we’re going to practice some of the dances for our dance show including the disco dance we learned last week.
