This Week
This
week Ms. Benloulou will begin teaching some lessons to the students in
class. She is very excited to be in the
class and has commented several times on how cooperative, thoughtful, and
welcoming the students have been.
Spaghetti
Day was a great success with the students bringing many clever inventions to
eat spaghetti. We all had many laughs at
the crazy ways spaghetti can be eaten. I
have posted pictures about spaghetti day and will post a video about the day
soon.
Swimming
starts on Thursday afternoon this week and will continue for three weeks. Please remember to send permission slips and
money for the lessons.
Math: On
Monday we begin a new math unit on Geometry.
Reading: School
reading groups are finished for the year, however over the next few weeks we’ll
be doing different reading activities in class including poetry, literature circles,
and practicing for our play in June. Ms.
Benloulou will be teaching 3 poetry lessons to the class focusing on metaphors.
Writing:
We are continuing with students writing a creative story.
Computer: I’ll be teaching students how
to create a power point and eventually they will make a presentation to the
class.
Science: We are focusing on the human
body and will study eating and digestion.
Art: We’ll continue with weave using some class looms
that I have, plus Ms. Benloulou will have some art activities for the students.
PE: Wednesday—jogging and fitness; Tuesday--dance; Monday
and Thursday are game day. This week
we’re going to learn some crazy dances from the 50s and 60s.
