This Week
Our
student teacher, Daniella Benloulou comes to our class beginning on Tuesday for
the next 3 weeks. She’ll be observing
and helping with the class this week and then teaching some lessons for the
final two weeks. It’ll be great to have
her in the class!
On
Wednesday we’ll be having our spaghetti day.
Students don’t need to bring a lunch—we’ll be having spaghetti with
sauce and cheese, buns, and cut veggies.
We’ll have rice pasta for those students with gluten allergies. Students are asked to bring a spaghetti
eating invention to eat the spaghetti with.
It should be loads of fun. I’ll
post pictures of the event afterwards.
Math: Students
will be learning about liquid and mass measures this week.
Reading: Students
will finish their project on Mrs. Frisby
and the Rats of NIMH. Examples of
projects include rat newspapers, rat menus, and rat survival kits.
Writing:
We are just about finished with dialogue; students will be writing an
adventure story that will include dialogue in it. We’ll be focusing on creating an interesting
plot and set in the story.
Computer: We have finished entering book
reviews on the class wikisite. You can
read them at this link:
Social studies: We will display our Barkerville
models this week and displaying them in front of the library. Come see them if you’re at school!
Science: We are focusing on the human
body and will study eating and digestion.
Art: We’ll be doing some paper weaving this week and weave
using some class looms that I have.
PE: Wednesday—jogging and fitness; Tuesday--dance; Monday
and Thursday are game day. This week
we’re going to learn some crazy dances from the 50s and 60s.
