This Week
Welcome to the New Year, 2012! I hope you and your family have had a great holiday. This week we are back to the regular schedule, although we will not have school wide reading groups this week. Congratulations to Jacob and Nathan for having their Christmas stories published in the Driftwood! Remember that Friday is a school day.
Math: We continue with multiplication—reviewing basic facts and learning about arrays; you can help your child master the basic facts with some practice at home. I have listed a couple of online math sites that help students practice multiplication facts.
Reading: This week we will be reading and reviewing some myths and fables. Students will read several fables/myths and then review one.
Writing: We will practice writing paragraphs in our writing journals.
Social studies: We finish longitude and latitude and will study BC in several maps.
Art: We’ll be investigating the colour wheel and primary colours.
Recorder: Back to playing some favourite songs and some review.
PE: Monday—jogging and fitness; Tuesday--dance; Wednesday and Thursday are game day.
