Well, we are back into daily routines in the class.  Students are enjoying the activities we have been doing especially the spinners we made and the fireworks art project we did that is hanging in the hallway.  Tomorrow 2 UVIC students are coming for a brief visit in the afternoon.  A reminder that students should be reading at least 20 minutes daily and recording it in their reading chart or planner.


Subjects

Math:   We are focusing on adding and subtracting with and without regrouping.  I will be showing the students a new way to add/subtract that eliminates regrouping and I hope they will be successful with the strategy.  
   "Math is the science of patterns."
Reading:   We continue to look at word power activities and we'll start with prefixes--numbers, re-, un-, 
Students continue to read "just right" books during Silent Reading time which I have daily.   
Students must record home reading in their reading log Monday to Thursday.
Writing:    Students continue to work on their blog.  We'll be starting a time capsule project and students will need to bring in a shoe box for it.  
Science:  Our focus is Work: experiments and learning about forces. We continue to investigate ramps and levers.  
Tech:  Students continue to work on their blog and will begin learning code with Hour of Code.  They had a very successful session with coding.     
Art:  This week we start to look at colours and the colour wheel.
PE:  We continue with some fitness training and jiving.  
French:  We continue  with learning colours and I'll introduce weather.
