This week the grade 5s will be visiting SIMS all day Wednesday and will have a chance to work and have some fun with other grade 5s in the district. Students have roles for Treasure Island and will be bringing home a note about their role and the costumes they will need for the play. Please go over it with them to ensure they are thinking about getting their costumes ready.
Subjects
Math: In geometry this week students will learn about types of triangles and quadrilaterals.
Reading: Our major focus is practicing Treasure Island and learning the lines and blocking for the play.
Writing: We continue to work on developing a character for a fictional story and working on Poetry.
Social Studies: Students are in Barkerville and e choosing jobs and businesses there. They will be doing several activities with their business.
Art: We had a great time with the cedar bark weaving last week. All students had a chance to weave a twill pattern on a large mat and then were able to do a small mat on their own. The class weaving that will be placed on the cedar tree which is next to the outdoor classroom. It should look great!
PE: Fitness stations continue weekly. Students continue to work very hard! French: Students will be learning some French phrases and dialogue using a whimsical series call Telefrancais..
