This Week

What a wonderful sleepover we had last Thursday night.  We had lots of fun activities for the students including a chance to see Jupiter and Saturn.  Thanks to all the parents that visited, led crafts, and stayed overnight.  And thanks to the students for being so enthusiastic and well-behaved.  It was great fun for all!
Tomorrow our class will be going to Burgoyne Bay with Kris Holbrook to explore the area at 4 different stations.  Students should bring plenty to eat and drink as well as appropriate clothing and boots.  If it rains tomorrow the trip will be re-scheduled for May 27.

Subjects

Math: We are starting to look at polygons and study their characteristics.
Reading: We continue to read the book, “Old Yeller”.  We are doing both guided and independent reading along with activities.
Writing: Students continue writing different types of poetry.
Art: This week we continue weaving with wool in our classrooms. We’ll also be drawing some 3-D objects.
PE:  The next couple of weeks will be spent developing and practicing skills in track and field.  District track day is Tuesday, May 28.    Tuesdays students continue to learn dance. We’re learning some dances from the sixties and seventies.
Science: Students are nearly finished the PowerPoint on simple machines.  This week we will start building the bottle rockets and I’d like to launch them next week.  I’ll let you know when we plan to launch them at school.
French: Students continue to learn basic vocabulary and phrases while viewing “Telefrancais”.
