This Week
Every
two weeks or so a group of students bakes or cooks for the rest of the class. It’s a fun way for students to do something
active together for their classmates plus it’s a nice treat! This Thursday it will be potato day and
students will be eating baked potatoes with all the trimmings. Should be yummy!
Subjects
Math: This
week we will be developing patterns with coordinates in a math project I showed
at parent night. Students will bring
home their math project when completed.
Reading: Students
have been working in groups reading scripts in an activity called Reader’s Theater. Groups practice the scripts together and then
share with the rest of the class. This
is great practice for fluency and reading confidence. We continue to focus on building
word power and language meaning.
Writing:
Students are continuing to type their adventure story. We will be
focusing on sentences structure for the next few weeks and doing research for a
non-fiction writing project. We will be focusing on basic sentence structure for the next few weeks. Students also continue to use their nature
journals outside (when possible!).
Art: Students have learned vanishing point lettering
and will practice some perspective drawing next.
PE: Students
are demonstrating their creative games to the class. I think they’ve learned that creating a new
game that is fun, easy to learn, and has clear rules is not as easy as it
seems. Tuesdays is dance day.
French: I French students have been
learning basic greetings and practicing some beginning vocabulary. They’ve been having great fun learning the
greetings and seem enthusiastic about learning French.
