This Week
This week we are going to Artspring to see the Foothills Brass Band. Nadine visits us again on Thursday and will be doing a writing session with the class. Book orders are due on Monday.
Math: We have started to work on division including looking at division arrays and division facts. This week students will learn two ways to do a division question.
Reading: Our reading group is enjoying the book Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. As well we are working on developing word power skills with vocabulary and prefix practice.
Writing: We had a great meeting with Nadine last week discussing how to plan and organize a personal collection of student writing. Students are creating webs to help them organize their ideas and we will be working with Nadine weekly to build a selection of written work for the student books.
Computer: We continue with keyboarding practice done 2 or 3 times a week. http://www.freetypinggame.net/ I am also teaching students different aspects of using Office word.
Social studies: We’ve done several entries in the diaries in our study of the gold rush in BC. We have read several chapters on the gold rush and are making our way to the Cariboo and Barkerville.
Art: We look at mixing colours this week.
Recorder: Back to playing some favourite songs and some review.
PE: Monday—jogging and fitness; Tuesday--dance; Wednesday and Thursday are game day. In dance we have learned the Virginia reel, the chicken dance, and parts of Michael Jackson’s Thriller.
